IN THIS short article, you’re going to discover the most effective way to generate customers online for any business that’s starting out.
But before we get into that, let me hit you with an earth-shattering statistic.
Out of the 1.7 billion websites currently live on the internet, only 3% of them generate at least a penny’s worth of revenue. And that number is even less when we account for the websites which return a profit.
Which points to one thing…
That it’s far easier to make a website, than it is to get someone to buy from it.
But why is this?
Well, with all things considered, by far the biggest factor that determines whether someone buys or not, is ironically the one thing no business outright controls.
The Most Important Ingredient to Driving Sales Online
And that is the ‘motivation level’ of the potential customer themselves.
What do I mean by this?
Well, let’s examine the following scenarios…
Someone who has damaged teeth in need of constant attention. Is going to have an extremely higher motivation to purchase dental services, than someone whose teeth is perfect.
Another example is someone who’s obese and struggles with their weight. Is going to have a far higher motivation to purchase diet products, than someone who’s in a brilliant shape.
And the examples can go on forever.
But what I’m illustrating here, is that you want the traffic coming to your website, to already have a burning motivation for what it is you have to offer.
You want the traffic to already be pre-qualified!
Because these are the people who are most likely to buy. And buy with the least amount of effort on your part.
Which is why where you decide to get your traffic in the first place. Is by far the most important marketing decision you can make as a business.
Since all traffic isn’t made equal. And almost no traffic is for free.
And this is where things get interesting.
Looking For Customers in The Wrong Places
Because I’m sure you’ve heard of trendy platforms like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram & even Twitter.
All platforms which are wrapped in the promise of giving businesses immediate access to millions (if not billions) of potential customers at the click of a button.
And that guarantee can be irresistible to someone starting an online business. Especially when they have the desire to maximise exposure of their business by being visible on all platforms.
But remember, not all traffic is equal. And almost no traffic is for free.
Because what is missing from this promise of having access to an endless stream of potential customers.
Is that 99.9% of these “potential customers” won’t be directly in the market for what it is you have to offer.
Because putting it bluntly, people don’t go on social media to see your ads. They go on social media to connect with friends, family, and peers. Not to find solutions to their problems.
So, when you’re showing ads to these people on these platforms, you’re in fact interrupting their experience. Not adding value to it.
Which means traffic driven from these platforms will be of low motivation at best, and totally uninterested at its worst.
But that begs the question…
Where should you get your online traffic from?
The Only Place 95% Of Online Businesses Should Market On
Well, before I answer that, let me ask you this?
Where do you go when you need to find the closing time of a local retail store?
Or where do you go when you want to find out a recipe for a particular dish you like?
Or where do you go when you need to find a plumber to fix a broken tap in your kitchen?
In fact, I don’t even need to ask. Because I already know what your answer is.
How do I know this?
Well, it’s not because I’m psychic, but because I know that Google is the first-place people go to solve their problems.
And this is validated by the 5.6 billion searches which are carried out on this platform every day.
Which means there’s a strong possibility, that a small percentage of those searches will relate directly to your business.
Searches where people are actively seeking to align themselves with your product and services.
And for this to happen…
All they need to do is type a search query related to your business into the Google search engine.
From where an ad for your business will show up, directing that very user to your website. Where you’ll then be able to convert them to a paying customer.
Which is why the traffic from Google has the highest motivation out of all the other marketing channels mentioned.
Simply because your target audience are directly looking for your services, at a time their motivation to get their problem solved is at its highest.
And it’s these people that you want to reserve the bulk of your marketing budget for, especially when you’re starting out.
People who you know are already highly motivated to buy. Not those who you hope to be.
