Nonprofit Cristo Rey St. Viator College Preparatory High School Kicks off Summer Campaign to Gain Additional Business Partners for Student Work-Study Program

LAS VEGAS — Cristo Rey St. Viator College Preparatory High School, which opened in North Las Vegas three years ago, has kicked off a summer campaign to solicit new business partners for the school’s innovative corporate work-study program.

The program is unique for a school in that it allows for students to gain real-world work experience while also taking on a rigorous college preparatory curriculum. The school, which mostly is comprised of students of families with limited economic means, has many quality business partners that pay fees for the entry level student workforce throughout the school year. Current business partners include MGM Resorts, Southwest Gas, Southpoint Hotel, Cosmopolitan, Latin Chamber of Commerce, Dignity Health, Bentar Development, Legal Aid Center, Nevada Partners, The Smith Center, Las Vegas Metro Police Foundation, De Castroverde Law Group and Bailey Kennedy law firm.

“We have wonderful business partners who have assisted our students and school by providing these job opportunities,” said Cristo Rey St. Viator High School President Thomas von Behren. “Not only do the businesses and organizations reap the benefits of having part-time, hard-working students as team members, but they are also helping these amazing students prepare to succeed in college and life. We are hoping more local companies join us in continuing to make this program successful.”

As the high school launches its summer campaign to inform and garner more business partners, it is holding several “Lunch & Learn” meetings and tours of the campus, located at 2880 Van Der Meer St. in North Las Vegas. Upcoming dates for these events are: July 19; August 16; and Sept. 20. Companies and individuals may register online at https://www.cristoreystviator.org/lunchlearn or by calling (702) 844-2019, ext. 206.

“We are seeking companies that want to thrive with these passionate student workers working alongside them,” said John Rinaldo, director of Business Partnerships for Cristo Rey St. Viator High School. “It’s a win-win all around for the business partners and our highly motivated high schoolers. Seeing the youth flourish is outstanding.”
